Athens vs. Tri-Valley: The Wait Is Over

The Tri-Valley Scotties battle the Athens Bulldogs tonight at Sulsberger Memorial Stadium in Zanesville in the Division 3, Region 9 semifinals. The game is a rematch of last year’s showdown in Logan that saw the Bulldogs escape with a 55-52 overtime victory.

Athens has scored 682 points in 11 games this season. Quarterback Joe Burrow has passed for 45 touchdowns while running back Trae Williams has rushed for 38 touchdowns.

Tri-Valley has been equally dominant on the defensive side of the ball. The Dawgs have allowed just 48 points all season.

The game will be broadcast on Highway 103. Kickoff is at 7:30.

Panthers hoping to keep record-setting season alive

In Gahanna, Maysville is set to battle top-seeded Columbus Beechcroft in the Division 4, Region 13 semifinals. The Panthers are 10-1 for the first time in school history. The Cougars share an identical 10-1 record that includes six wins over schools in higher classifications.

The game is the WHIZ-TV "Game of the Week," and will air Saturday morning at 11. It will also be broadcast on Z92. Kickoff is at 7:30.
