Commissioners Approve Grant for Juvenile Detention Center
The Muskingum County Juvenile Detention Center is getting ready to make some updates.
Superintendent Allen Bennett met with the county commissioners today to finalize a grant that has been previously discussed. The grant money will be used to update some of the equipment within the detention center.
"We need to get a new DVR system, shower doors in our facility definitely need to be replaced, a new time clock system. A lot of our, our building is now 13 years old, a lot of the electronics are just not compatible with the new computers, just a lot of upgrades and different things that we need."
The commissioners approved of the $15,000 grant, but it will take time for the money to become available.
"The money isn’t actually available until 1/1/15 and its a project date from 1/1 until 3/31, so first quarter of 2015 is when everything will get, get done."
Bennett plans to begin ordering the new equipment as soon as the money becomes available.
