Downtown Zanesville Beautification Project Underway

During the holiday season if you find yourself on 5th and Main you will notice some beautiful decorative greenery. What you may not know, is where these cheerful decorations came from.

The Muskingum Valley Garden Society braved the elements early Saturday, November 22nd, to set up their holiday plants.

"The Chamber asked us if we would be interested in decorating for Christmas, since we did such a great job with the city for the summer plants and everybody liked them so well. We decided this is a new venture for us, so we thought we’d go ahead and try it and see what we could do, but we’re excited to decorate for Christmas a little bit," said Cathy Molher, member for the Muskingum Valley Garden Society.

While decorating may seem like an easy task, because Muskingum Valley Garden Society is a non-profit organization, projects depend on donations. Luckily, this year, the Zanesville Daybreak Rotary Club donated $2,000 to the beautification project.

Bill Porter from the Zanesville Daybreak Rotary Club stated, "We always look for an environmental project, something for in the community to help beautify the community and we felt this was a very worth while cause."
