Christ’s Table Annual Thanksgiving Meal
Starting at 6 a.m. Thursday, November 27th, Christ’s Table volunteers were busy at work preparing for their annual Thanksgiving meal.
Over 500 meals were prepared for Christ’s Table patrons. 250 home-bound meals were sent out, and over 250 people were served the classic holiday meal on location. The menu consisted off all the holiday favorites like turkey, stuffing, homemade mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, and of course pumpkin pie with whipped cream.
"When you walk in and you smell turkey baking in the oven i think you just get that warm feeling of home," said Keely Warden Executive Director at Christ’s Table. "Maybe a memory that you had when you were a child and they’re very thankful when they come in and we like to see how many people come back and get seconds and thirds because it is bountiful today, there is that never ending plate and we just want everyone to leave with love in their heart and their bellies full."
Thanks to community support, Christ’s Table was able to prepare 58 turkeys on Thanksgiving, to ensure those bellies did leave full. While Thanksgiving may not be the highest attended meal of the year, to the volunteers, it’s the most important.
"It wont be our biggest meal number wise, but the love that we put into it, it’s probably is our biggest meal because we personally know the people that are walking through the door and we know that we’re sharing thanksgiving with our family so that does make it the biggest meal of our year," said Warden.
This year, Christ’s table is thankful for all of the community support they received to make this meal possible, and for all of their selfless volunteers.
