Deer Gun Hunting Season Begins Monday, December 1st
This Monday, December 1st, marks the beginning of gun hunting season.
Hundreds of local hunters will take to the woods in pursuit of their perfect deer. This year Kathy McCann, owner of the Dillon Falls Store, informed us of some rule changes that you should make note of.
"Two main changes are the ammunitions, the types of guns they can use this year. They added straight wall cartridges and for a list of those you can go to wildohio.gov and see what weapons are involved in that or look it up in your regulation handbook to be sure but in the past it’s been 12 gage, 20 gage a lot of people say they’re still going to use that type of weapon. And the other change was counties, on what type of tags you can buy and how many deer you can kill in that county. For Muskingum county it was changed to one buck two does, and you have to buy three either sex tags to do that."
If you plan on heading out Monday, be sure to stay safe and wear your safety orange. Also, you can still tag your deer the old fashioned way at the Dillon Falls Store. For more information on hunting season, you can visit the Ohio Department of Natural Resources website, www.wildohio.gov.
