Muskingum Valley Health Center To Host Enrollment Event

The Muskingum Valley Health Center is hosting a health insurance enrollment event this week.

The event will be held December 2nd, 3rd and 4th from 3PM to 6PM at the centers three different locations. Those being in Coshocton, Morgan and Muskingum counties. Jeanie Blake of the Muskingum Valley Health Center told us a little bit more about the event.

"This is an opportunity for community residents to come in and sit down with one of our certified application counselors who are enrollment specialists. At that time they can find out what type of health insurance they may qualify for. So we want to educate the community about healthcare options that exist for them."

Anyone who is a resident in the area is eligible to attend the event. Blake says having health insurance is incredibly vital to the individual.

"Health insurance cannot only help you when you are sick and need the appropriate health care and it also affords you the opportunity to seek out preventative measures so that perhaps we can avoid some chronic illnesses that might impact you the rest of your life."

Since the Affordable Care Act, over 7,000 additional Muskingum County residents are insured. That has cut the number of uninsured residents in half. Blake says they hope to insure even more individuals this coming week.
