The Festival of Trees

The 24th Annual Festival of Trees fundraiser took place today. The fundraiser was sponsored by the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce at the welcome center. President of the Chamber of Commerce, Tom Poorman, says the annual event is both a community festival and fundraiser, but today was focused on the fundraising aspect. "The Chamber of Commerce uses this money to operate throughout the year. So, this is what we put back into the community in terms of small business services, economic development programs that we operate, and other forms of community promotion activities. 36:03" Poorman says today was spent auctioning off entries and they’ve had some really great donations this year. "The trees come from are organizations, companies, businesses, a few from individuals. And there’s trees, wreaths, stockings, craft items, there’s all kinds of things. The originality, the creativity is really amazing; people are really generous and they’re very creative." the event ended at 6 this evening, and we will have an update on how much money was raised once the numbers come in.
