Genesis Affected by Global IT Outage

Genesis HealthCare System is responding to the technology issues caused by the global IT outage Friday.
Core systems like Epic, the electronic medical record system, and other clinical and operational systems have not been affected. The main impact of the outage has been to staff computers.
“Patient care and safety is priority one for the Genesis Team as we respond to computer issues caused by the global technology outage,” said Ed Romito, Chief Transformation Officer at Genesis HealthCare System. “Our patients and those in our communities can be assured we are continuing to provide the highest quality of healthcare during this time.”
Through the efforts of Genesis’ IT experts and other staff, patients continue to receive care throughout the system, including Genesis Hospital, Genesis Coshocton Medical Center, the Emergency Departments in Zanesville, Coshocton and Somerset, the Genesis Outpatient Surgery Center and physicians’ offices.
Patients who had any unavoidable disruption in their scheduled visits are being actively rescheduled. The Genesis Pharmacies also continue to fill prescriptions. All healthcare services continue to be available, and Genesis is working to minimize any delays caused by this issue.
