Support the John McIntire Library Remodel

The John McIntire Library is updating with the first major remodel in 33 years and you can help support them along the way.

The remodel is tentatively planned to start this November and wrap up in 2026. All three levels in the library will be reimagined to meet the changing needs of the community thanks to feedback the library received directly from the community.

“So in 2022, when we worked on our strategic plan that started in 2023, we were in the community multiple times, all of Muskingum County. Meeting with the community, hearing what they needed from the library, what they want from the library, how they use the library and that really shaped our plans for the remodel,” said Stacey Russell, the Muskingum County Library System executive director.

According to Russell the remodel is estimated to cost $9.4 million. The library has $8.7 million so far, but is inviting the community to help be a part of the remodel, and fundraise the remaining funds.

“We are excited to have this opportunity for the community to participate in the remodel. It doesn’t matter what you can give. Any amount of money would make an impact. We’ll have a donor wall that you can be listed on even if you’re giving a dollar or something like that, it’ll be an opportunity for you to be recognized as part of the John McIntire remodel process.”

Donor Wall

You can learn more about the remodel, or donate to have your name added to the Donor Wall on the Muskingum County Library System’s website. A pledge form is also available to print out and invite companies to match your donation. The John McIntire Library will still be operating out of the Carnegie Wing during the remodel.
