“Countdown to Kickoff” Welcomes Fans to 2024 Season

ZANESVILLE, OH

We are inching ever so closer to football season. Just over a week away from kickoff on Friday the 23rd. Before we get there, it’s time to get to know the local area coaches and how they are preparing for the 2024 season with our “Countdown to Kickoff” event.

Now, the event took place at “The Barn” in Zanesville, where nine different head coaches from all across Muskingum County got a chance to talk on live radio about their teams and what to expect from them this year. With a live audience, coaches from Zanesville to Rosecrans to Morgan to Philo and everywhere in between had the opportunity to welcome us all into the fall sports season. But for every coach and their school, there’s always a unique perspective about keeping their players ready for the bright lights of football.

West Muskingum head coach Nate Brownrigg said, “You know, I think, the key and what we’re trying to do is build a program. You know, I think our role as coaches is to create some, create some standards and hold kids accountable. And then it’s on the kids to then build the program.”

“It’s hard, like, when you see it happening. you know, it’s priceless. And, you know, we’ve seen the beginnings of that this year. But ultimately, you don’t really know until you get to that. You know, when the bullets are flying, so to speak, and you know, Friday nights and live action and things are coming fast.” said Meadowbrook head coach Steve Norman.

“It’s just preaching the right things. It’s preaching ‘doing the right things and staying in the now’. You know, you just tell them that this is something that we have to work and we’re working on us.” added Zanesville head coach T.J. Carper. “We’re not focused on anybody else. We’re focused on getting better every day.”
