Habitat for Humanity Dedicates New Home

ZANESVILLE, OH –  An organization helped to make one local woman a homeowner Tuesday.

Habitat for Humanity of Southeast Ohio held a house dedication ceremony today for the partner family they had been working with. Melissa Best, the Director of Community Engagement for Habitat for Humanity of SEO, says it took about six months to complete the house as well as over 1,900 hours worth of volunteer hours.

“We could not be more excited to be here,” Best said. “And invest in this community and invest in this woman and her family, it’s a great day.”

Katelyn Hall, the New Homeowner, says she would even come in after work to help paint and get the home together as well as volunteer at the resale store.

She says her and her children could not be more excited to start this next journey.

“It’s definitely bittersweet for me because it’s the next chapter for me and my family,” Hall said. “It’s been something I’ve been wanting to do for a very long time, but everyone knows with the price of everything right now it’s very hard to afford a house or housing right now. But Habitat has made that happen for me and I appreciate them 100%, it’s been amazing.”

Habitat for Humanity is planning to rework and redevelop 7 additional houses on Luck Ave. in the near future.
