2024 Summer Concert Series Finale
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Zanesville Summer Concert Series will jump into its 2024 season finale Thursday with a thunderous evening of rock and roll.
Zanesville Mayor Don Mason revealed Thursday’s concert will begin at 5 p.m. with local act, DJ Adonis, who will then be followed by Jump, a Van Halen tribute band, taking the stage at 6, followed by Thunderstruck, an AC/DC tribute band, who will close out the show.
“The reason we thank our sponsors is, it is free to get in and we welcome everybody,” Mason said. “Last year when we had the AC/DC tribute band, Thunderstruck, I was surprised by how many people brought their children, ages 4 and 5, all the way up to people in their 70s and beyond, were in the audience. And it’s just a great feel to see a great community event.”
Thursday’s temperatures are expected to rise well into the 90s but plenty of food and beverage trucks will be on hand to quench thirst and the air conditioned Secrest Auditorium will be open for people to take a break from the heat.
“I realize that it’s going to be hot,” Mason said. “People are always allowed to bring their own bottled waters in. You can bring in soft drinks, anything like that. You just can’t bring in alcohol because that sits inside of a DORA, which is a designated outdoor refreshment area. And you can only move around the DORA with beverages purchased in the DORA. But the bottom line is, we do encourage people to hydrate while they’re there.”
The Summer Concert Series was started in 2021 as a civic gesture of encouragement for people to leave their homes and socialize as they did before the pandemic. Mason estimates somewhere around 3,000 people will brave the heat to experience Thursday’s event.
