First local speed cubing competition

ZANESVILLE, OH- The first ever World Cube Association speed cubing competition in Southeastern Ohio took place all throughout the day.

80 competitors came together to show off their skills in different events such as the 5 by 5 by 5 and the Pyraminx.

“I like competing, there are several events that I like, we are about to do 3 by 3 by 3 blind folded right now which is a really cool event, but I also like and have organized several competitions and I really like that, just like bringing competitions to new areas like this is really fun, being able to grow the community like that and let new people compete for the first time, it is really great,” said World Cube Association Delegate, Evan Brown.

The event was free to the community and welcomed anyone who was interested to come watch. If you are wanting to become more involved with the cubing community going to tournaments like this is a great way to start.

“New competitors I would say even if you don’t feel like you are ready to compete definitely come just to see what they are like because we try to make them very friendly, very open to new competitors, we recognize the top three new competitors every competition, it’s something we always try to do, if you are interested in organizing your own competitions it seems like a tough thing to do at first, but if you work with myself or other W.C.A. Delegates we try to make the process as easy as possible, make it accessible,” said Brown.
