Local Job Fair Connects Students with Career Opportunities

ZANESVILLE, OH – Area students got a sneak peek into their futures at the Muskingum County Fairgrounds.

The Muskingum Valley Educational Service Center teamed up with Junior Achievement, Ohio Means Jobs, and the Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce to host a Career-pathway program. Over 1,500 students explored career possibilities with more than 60 exhibitors.

“This event is more than a job fair, it’s more of a job awareness. It gives kids a more hands-on, in-depth experience,” Director of Workforce Development Easton Lewellen said.

Employers were excited to meet the next generation of workers, showing them what their industries have to offer. Students from Muskingum County and surrounding areas got the chance to engage directly with employers and check out career paths they might not have considered before.

“We hope this sparks interest in the students’ eyes to better understand an industry or a world they didn’t have in front of them. To think about how they can be more empowered to figure out what they’d like to do upon high school graduation,” Senior Vice President Beth Tyburski said.

This job fair plans to return once again next year.
