Voctave Rocks Annual Field Trip Concert
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Each school year, the Zanesville Concert Association invites world class musicians to share a taste of culture with area 4th graders.
This year’s field trip concert was performed by Voctave, an 11 member acapella group that harmonizes pop-culture hits.
“Voctave is a world renowned, award winning, vocal ensemble, and their show is called Broadway to Main Street. So they sing a little bit of NYC, New York City things and then they also sing a lot of Disney. So we know our kids are going to just love it,” Zanesville Concert Association President Sheryl Wise said.
The annual event, held at the Secrest Auditorium is free for the students and sponsored by the Zanesville Concert Association Foundation, along with the J.W. and M.H. Straker Foundation.
“The kids get an experience that many of them have never even been to the auditorium and they get an experience that is unlike anything else that many of them have ever done. You know, a lot of them are not going to be able to go to Columbus or New York or anyplace where there’s a big ensemble like this. And so it’s just part of our mission. We want to be able to entertain and inform the next generation of our people here in Zanesville,” Wise said.
Around a thousand 4th Grade students from each of the county’s school districts filled the auditorium to participate in the vocal performance.
