COSI Visits National Road Elementary
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Imagination can be one of the biggest motivating factors in a child’s educational development.
An outer space themed STEM event was held at National Road Elementary School today that piqued students’ curiosity and promoted the local expansion of broadband internet as an educational tool.
“We are so pleased that AT&T and COSI have come to our community, to our children, to help bring a little bit of space education and space excitement to Zanesville area children. So having the opportunity of AT&T working with COSI, bringing science to Zanesville has been a wonderful opportunity,” Zanesville Mayor Don Mason said.
Students oohed and awed to some of COSI’s science demonstrations before receiving space themed, STEM ‘Learning Lunchbox’ kits that contained fun, science based, information and activity materials.
“So one of our main focuses is partnering with local organizations, local school students to ensure that they have the skills for the workforce of tomorrow. So AT&T, we are constantly building out our broadband; both wire, fiber and wireless throughout Ohio and the country. So we want to ensure that we have sort of the next generation workforce and that they have the skills to succeed for jobs within our industry and the telecom industry,” AT&T Ohio Vice President of External Affairs Sarah Briggs said.
AT&T has partnered with COSI to promote STEM education to students, whose families may not have the means to travel to COSI or other science based learning facilities.
