ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Transportation announced an upcoming job fair that is looking to hire seasonal employees.

ODOT District 5 Public Information Officer Chas Cosgrave explained the need for the upcoming open house and who specifically they are in need of the most.

“So we’re looking to recruit Seasonal Highway Technicians and Highway Maintenance workers with a CDL and Tanker Endorsement. Primarily for our Guernsey County Garage and our Coshocton County Garage. So this is to prepare for upcoming snow and ice events throughout the winter. Where we seek additional workers to make sure that we can fulfill our goal of keeping Ohio’s roads safe and that best-in-class transportation system that we’re committed to providing,” Cosgrave said.

The open house allows attendees to see the facility, meet the staff and be introduced to the equipment ODOT uses to maintain the roads.

“People can come in, see the operation, ask questions, learn more about the positions. They can actually apply that day and pending everything goes OK, we are prepared to extend offers that day as well. Our applicants primarily will operate equipment for snow and ice removal; take part in general roadway maintenance, cleaning patching, mowing, things of that nature. And perform any traffic control duties that might go along with that,” Cosgrave said.

The event will take place from 9 to Noon, Saturday, October 19th, at the Guernsey County Garage, 6490 Glenn Highway in Cambridge.
