Sweet Adelines Prepare to Sing to You

Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love, and a local group is trying to spread that love.

The Friendship Seven Sweet Adelines offer to sing to your loved ones on Valentine’s Day. They only ask for one thing in return. That’s a donation to Genesis.

“We take none of the money for ourselves,” Bonnie Bean said. “One hundred percent of your donation goes. We ask for $20 for each one, and local florists have donated carnations to go with the valentines, so we deliver a song, a valentine and usually a lot of smiles too.”

One of the singers in the group, Bean, said they have a variety of songs they sing. She said they visit family members, friends or even the occasional special coworker.

“A lot of barbershop choruses do this to make money for themselves, but we want to give back to the community, and Genesis Hospice is a phenomenal service,” Bean said. “You never want your family to need the service, but when it does, it is wonderful that they are there and they are angels.”
