Keeping Your Pets Warm

Your dog may have fur, but that doesn’t mean they are immune to the freezing temperatures.

According to the Animal Shelter’s Executive Directory, Jody Murray, we need to pay special attention to our pets when the temperatures drop so drastically.

“Yeah it looks like cold forecast for the next week or so and I would just like to remind people when temperatures get this cold to do some special things for to keep your pets warm. Extra bedding outside, even when it gets this cold it’s probably good to move their houses inside to the garage or something for a few nights while it’s this cold.”

Murray suggested that you venture outside with your pet when it’s time for an outing. He said if you’re cold, chances are your pet is as well.

“If you have a dog that’s a house dog that needs to be taken outside. Probably a good idea to take them out on a lease. That way you’re out there with them and when you start to get cold your dog is probably going to be cold. So just some reminders to keep your pet warm during this cold spell during the next week.”

If you are still looking for that perfect furry companion. The Animal Shelter will be holding a special pet adoption at Pet Smart on Maple Avenue Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 3 p.m.
