Eastpointe Business Park Celebrating 25 Years

ZANESVILLE, OH – Eastpointe Business Park is celebrating a major milestone this year 25 years of growth and success right here in Muskingum County.

Spanning approximately 1,500 acres, Eastpointe Business Park has grown over the years into a hub for businesses, giving companies a place to land and thrive. One of the park’s most notable additions is Dollar General, which arrived in 1999.

“Eastpointe Business Park is overall a collaboration between the County Commissioners at the time, the City of Zanesville, Washington Township Trustees, and the Port Authority. The conversation started in 1999, and it was a conversation about some land being put together for industrial use to be able to benefit the community long term. Over time, it’s really paid a lot of dividends for our community and getting a place for companies to land. The properties were accumulated and purchased in 1998, and in 1999 Dollar General landed,” Zanesville Muskingum County Port Authority Executive Director Matt Abbott said.

Over the years, Eastpointe has provided thousands of jobs to the community. On a weekly basis, about 2,500 people head to work in the park. This business park has helped shape what Muskingum County is today.

“It was planting the tree early. In 1998, they didn’t necessarily have the ability to reap the benefits of the shade. We’re seeing some of those benefits in our community today. At the time, there was some tough decisions for our local dealerships to make investments in infrastructure, water, wastewater, and road infrastructure. Those were all costly at the time, and they remain costly today. But, for a period of time looking out into the future, that had really made Muskingum County what it is today,” Abbott said.
