Jaycees Announce ‘C-Day’ 2024
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – For more than 50 years the Zanesville Jaycees and WHIZ Radio’s C-Day operation has traversed the community collecting for less fortunate families.
Zanesville Jaycees President Mike Walton explained how the public can participate by simply leaving donated items on their porch and calling the Jaycees to come pick them up.
“Essentially, we know the Salvation Army gets low on food items, non-perishable items around the holidays,” explained Walton. “So we typically do it the Saturday before Thanksgiving. We’ll actually have people call into the radio station or down to our club room.”
Participants are asked to donate food along with any fall-cleanup extras that might be able to benefit another family, who might be struggling financially this holiday season.
“Years past, we’ve also done clothing and gently used toys. That is something that we are doing again this year. So last year we strictly done just the food items, this year we’re going to be doing the gently used toys as well as clothing items to help out Eastside Community Ministry as well,” Walton said.
This year’s C-Day will take place from 9-’til-2, Saturday, November 23rd. For more information you can contact the Zanesville Jaycees at (740) 453-7889 or WHIZ at (740) 452-5431.
