Baron Named ZAAP Gallery Artist of the Month

ZANESVILLE, OH – Irene Baron has been named the Artist of the Month at the ZAAP Gallery.

Baron’s love of art started when she was around 8 years old and only grew as she did. She said she’s created several new and original works with gold leaf accents throughout the pieces. Baron said it was sometimes a challenge to work with the gold leaf, but the end results really shine through.

“But it’s so fun to work with but very difficult too,” Baron said. “I didn’t realize how difficult, until I started because it is so lightweight. I was having problems with it blowing around until someone said, “Well, wear a mask.” and I did and it made a big difference because you breathe and it goes, whoosh, and wants to go away.”

Baron said along with her works, there will also be art pieces from other members of the ZAAP Gallery and light refreshments. She hopes everyone comes with a glittering smile and outfit, to match her pieces.

“I hope a lot of my former students come,” Baron said. “I taught in Zanesville, like 20 some years and a lot of friends and people I haven’t seen for years, I hope they say ‘Let’s go see Irene!’”

The ZAAP Gallery will be open from 5 to 8PM for the First Friday Artwalk and is located at 625 Main St in Zanesville.
