Three Goals, Sensational Defense Vault River View to First Ever Boys Soccer State Final
DOVER, OH
River View trying to become the first team in MVL boys soccer history to advance to a state championship game. Just two wins away as a state semifinal came first when the Black Bears battled Beachwood out in Dover. Some future Black Bears amped up for this one, but how about the blonde hair for the bears, and even head coach Vince Andrews is getting in on the act.
But now we get to the game. Bears already up 1-0 after 90 seconds from Parker Andrews, trying to add to that first half lead. This is Brody Stevens just narrowly missing wide at the back post. Then it’s Beachwood’s turn as Grant Keilin’s right footed effort will ding off the outside of the post and it remains a 1-0 halftime lead for River View.
And you can’t forget about the Black Bears defense and goalkeeping. A superb save from the sprawling Layton Massie! A one-goal lead, it remains for the Black Bears. But then came a moment of magic. Hayden Walters, out of this world! A sensational hit from the senior!
A late third goal would seal the deal for the Black Bears, who go marching into Columbus on Monday night for the Division IV state final, where three-time state champion Worthington Christian will be waiting.
