Downtown Zanesville Revitalization
ZANESVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) – According to the Chamber of Commerce, over 130 thousand cars enter Downtown Zanesville every 24 hours. Currently over 180 businesses are located downtown, with more working to relocate to the area every day. The downtown residential life is also growing and many residential property owners tell the ZDA that they have a wait list for their rental units.
Fire Safety
ZANESVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) – In 2014, 15 children lost their lives across the state in house fires, so far into 20-15 that number is up to 11. Lieutenant Doug Hobson of the Zanesville Fire Department says a practice run in case of a fire can potentially save lives by making sure everyone in your family knows at least two ways out of the house.
BBBS Bowl for Kids Sake
MUSKINGUM COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – Big Brothers Big Sisters is gearing up for its Annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake. This year theme is Heroes in Disguise. The event kicks off Tuesday march 10th at the barn. The fundraising concludes with bowling and a party at Sunrise on April 25th, 29th, and 30th.
Second Marijuana Legalization Petition Rejected
COLUMBUS, OHIO (AP) – Attorney General Mike Dewine has, for the second time this month, rejected a petition campaign for a referendum legalizing marijuana in Ohio. Dewine says the petitions didn’t have enough valid signatures. The group Responsible Ohioans for cannabis plans to resubmit it.
Many Ohioans Set to Lose Medicaid
COLUMBUS, OHIO (WHIZ) – Roughly 61,000 Ohioans are set to lose their Medicaid coverage tomorrow after failing to verify their eligibility for the program. State Medicaid Head McCarthy told a legislative panel yesterday that figure comes in spite of efforts to increase awareness of the program rules. The process had been on hold in Ohio for a year.
