Everybody Dance Now

“Everybody Dance Now”, well, that’s what Genesis Hospital wants you to do every day to keep your heart healthy.

The Colony Square Mall hosted the annual ‘Day Of Dance’ event Saturday the event aims to educate visitors about heart health while giving them a chance to get up and get moving. Guests were able to talk to area cardiologists while being scanned for various heart related diseases. The tests were free of charge.

“Today we’re celebrating Day Of Dance. This is a event that we started in 2007 and it’s a great event to celebrate heart health. We bring in our Genesis Vascular Heart service team out and they put up stations and people could show up and get a free screening,” said Genesis Marketing and Media Relations Manager, Holly Voltz.

In addition to educating about heart health, participants also saw a show. Dozens of dance groups gathered in the middle of the mall to perform dance numbers and to encourage people to exercise daily.

“The theme ‘Day Of Dance’ is just doing any type of movement. Just something to get you up and moving. Dancing is an easy way, low impact and a great way to get exercise. We’ve had people dancing from 3 years old to 80 years old, everyone can do it,” said Voltz.
