Local Artist Celebrates WHIZ TV, AM1240 Milestones with a New Painting

ZANESVILLE, OH – A local artist well known for depicting distinctive buildings has created a new piece.
Recently, WHIZ TV celebrated 75 years and the AM1240 radio station celebrated 100 years on the air.
To commemorate the occasion, artist Mary Ann Bucci created 40 prints of the iconic radio building.
Bucci says she wanted to make sure she also included in the painting, the memorial bench for a very special woman.
“I wanted to include that little, tiny bench that’s over on the side that has “Dorbie” Littick’s name on it,” Bucci explained, “because she was just so important, the establishment of this and then carrying out all of the community benefits that they’ve done for those 100 years.”
Bucci says the inspiration for this painting came naturally and from things in her everyday life.
She says it meant a lot to her to be able to help carry on the legacy the Littick Family started through these prints.
“I’ve always been very close to the Littick family and now the Marquee Company, so it was easy for me to do.” Bucci said. “I like the reflectiveness of the windows and sometimes I begin a painting with that, with windows and the reflections they show.”
WHIZ and Marquee Broadcasting hope to be a fixture in the community for another century.
