Central Trinity UMC Gearing Up For December Events

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Christmas season is here, and Central Trinity United Methodist Church in Zanesville has a packed schedule of festive events this December.

The celebration kicks off this Sunday, December 1st, with The Table at the Stable service, a special service reflecting on the experience of Christ’s birth. Then, on December 8th, the Festival of Carols will combine everyone’s favorite Christmas songs with scripture to tell the story of Jesus’ birth. The Table at the Stable service will begin at 9 a.m. with a second service beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the Festival of Carols will be held at 10:30 a.m.

“The Table at the Stable is our first event. Every Sunday has a festive flavor to it, and we also have Communion on the first Sunday. People are going to have Communion at the manger on Sunday. At the manger set up at the church. You’ll come to the Table at the Stable. With unique music at every service. Our second Sunday is our ceremony of lessons and carols, and no sermon on that Sunday, it’ll be all music and scripture. The congregation will be singing also, and we’ll have the handbell choir, the Ignite Praise Band, and the Chancel Choir.” Jim McLaughlin said.

For those with a sweet tooth, the church’s Cookie Walk is on December 14th from 9:30 am to 2 pm. Visitors can pick their favorite cookies for $7 per dozen, with proceeds supporting the youth mission trip and other church projects. Their Christmas Eve services will be held at 4:30 pm and 11pm on December 24th.

“Just all the different activities we do at the church. Some of them are mission related, some of them are outreach related, just all kinds of different things.” Lead Pastor, Jon Exman said. “I love all parts of Christmas. But the Christmas Eve service is very special. The traditional candlelight service, I think for a lot of people look back on at their childhood. I grew up as a preacher’s kid, so it kind of brings back a lot of fond memories and it’s a special service.” Pastor Exman said.

There are many more events happening at the church in December, including the Handel’s Messiah Concert and a kid’s party. For a full list of events, visit Central Trinity United Methodist Church’s website.

The church is located at 62 South 7th Street in Zanesville.
