Genesis Offering Enhanced Patient Care
After years of planning and building, the $200 million project at Genesis is coming to a close.
A major face lift, both outside, and in at Bethesda Hospital has taken five years to come to fruition. CEO Matt Perry said they will be ready to move in in May. He said the major change comes with how patients will be cared for.
“A lot of the changes are very much bringing us into absolutely state of the art patient care,” Perry said. “We’re also changing a lot of how we deliver care and doing that in a much more patient centered fashion.”
It’s in an effort to bring Genesis into the national care giver level. Perry said one aspect of the patient centered care will be demonstrated with the new cancer care center.
“Historically, we’ve had cancer care services spread out all over the community, and now, we have it all in one location,” Perry said. “Designing that patient care experience and all the different physicians and care givers come to the patient as opposed to the other way around.”
Even with the big price tag on the project, Perry said the new facility will also allow the hospital to reduce operating costs.
