Snow Emergencies

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – As of  7:00 A.M. Coshocton and  Guernsey Counties are under aLevel One Snow Emergency. Morgan, Muskingum, Noble, and Perry Counties are under a Level Two Snow Emergency. 

City Working to Fix Potholes

ZANESVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) – An increased number of pot holes have been popping up on roadways and public service director, Jay Bennet says the city is hard at work patching them. A more permanent solution is on the way once the weather warms up and the asphalt plants start processing. Changing Batteries in Your Smoke Detectors

ZANESVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) – The Zanesville Fire Department suggests changing the batteries in your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors this weekend as you move your clocks forward for Daylight Savings Time. If you do not have a smoke detector, they are available for free through most local fire departments.

Muskingum County Senior Center Closed Till Further Notice

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – Until an alternative location can be found, the Muskingum County Senior Center is suspending most of its services as leaks in the roof have made it dangerous to hold activities. Executive director, Ann Combs does stress that home bound meals will continue to be distributed to seniors during this time.

"Hang On Sloopy" Ohio’s Official Rock Song?

COLUMBUS, OHIO (AP) – A proposal to make "Hang On Sloopy" Ohio’s official rock song has struck the right note with state lawmakers. The House approved the measure Wednesday. It now heads to the Senate for consideration.
