Ready, Set, Go-Kart

Dozens of Go-Karters showed off their karts at Colony Square Mall  Sunday.

It was all apart of the Smokin’s Joe’s Small Engine Repair Racing Mower and Kart Show, Presented By: Limestone Valley Mower Speedway, BearTrax Speedway and 1-70-77 Seedway.

Racers range in age from 6 to 60 and each racer must wear protective gear that include a helmet, neck brace and other safety constraints.

“You know like in our mini wedge class here we have seat belts, five belt link systems and restricter plates. We use restricter plates to keep their speeds down,” said I 70-77 Speedway Representative, Courtney Black.

Black’s 8-year-old son is just one of the kids who competes in the mini wedge class and he says it’s a great family sport.
