Dobbins Family Christmas Light Display Returns for 19th Year

ZANESVILLE, OH – One local woman is shining a light into darkness this holiday season.

For the past 19 years, Michelle Dobbins has decorated the outside of her home with thousands of lights as a part of the Dobbins Family Christmas event.

Dobbins said the light display is spread out over an acre of property and is inviting the community to come drive by to see it.

She also said her main reason for doing this display every year is to be a light for someone who may need it.

“To bring light into darkness, that’s the main reason why,” Dobbins said. “We live in a culture today that’s dark, so this is Christ’s light. I represent Him for Christmas and when you’ve got this much light, there’s over 75,000 lights so it’s pretty bright, and I think it brightens souls. It brightens people’s lives when they come out and are in the light and to just give hope.”

This weekend, on Saturday, Dec. 14th from 5 to 7PM, the community will have the chance to check out and walk around the display.

Dobbins said each child that comes will receive a gift bag with a candy cane plus a chance to meet with Santa.

“I just want them to feel the love and understand, not only that I’m here with the Christmas lights and Santa, that I just I love on the kids, I interact with the kids,” Dobbins said. “I do wristbands, and the interaction, what’s the reason for the season and try to get them to know Christ and what the main reason for the season is.”

If you are interested in attending, the Dobbins Family Christmas will take place on Saturday at 4380 Shimoda Lane.
