Tilton Gives State Of The City Address
Zanesville City Mayor Jeff Tilton gave his State of the City address prior to the council meeting Monday evening.
Tilton says the purpose of the speech was to address how the city has worked over the last year and talk about the plans for the year ahead. Tilton shared some of the highlights of his speech.
“Some of the highlights are some of the problems that we have in the city continuing which is our crime. Even though we have the Police Department at full force, we still have a lot of crime and we are working with the neighborhoods and we have an intervention unit now that we’re working on crimes within our neighborhoods.”
Tilton reported that the Fire Department is also up to full staffing and received over $300,000 in grants that allowed the purchasing of safety equipment that aide fire personnel. Tilton also had good financial news to share.
“The budget is balanced and we have a contingency so that if there are problems in the future this year, that we have the money to take care of those problems.”
Tilton encourages the entire City to help work to make Zanesville a better place to live.
