Shirley Mettler

Shirley Mae Mettler age 82, of Dexter City, OH passed away Friday morning, December 13, 2024 at Astoria Place of Cambridge in Cambridge, OH. She was born November 4, 1942 in Caldwell, OH daughter of the late Clifford E. and Clela L. Willey DeLancey.

Shirley was involved in and enjoyed many hobbies, including quilting, sewing, yard sales, antique shopping, gardening, canning, baking, doll collecting, and she loved her dachshunds. She, along with her mother Clela participated in the Noble County Fair for many years with their baked and canned goods; and traveled on many occasions together. Shirley was always quick to lend a hand or prepare a meal for her family, friends and neighbors; she was a Methodist by faith, and life member of Keith Community Church. Shirley retired from Summit Acres Nursing Home and had worked at March Electric, Heartland of Marietta, and Hamilton Beach during her working career. She was a member of the Laurel Grange #1678 and the Stitch and Chatter Quilting Club.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Harry “Junior” Mettler whom she married December 17, 1963 and who passed away February 5, 2013; 2 sisters Marilyn Faye DeLancey and Doris Janette Buckley.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three sons Aaron Keith (Fonda) Mettler of Dexter City, Curtis Wade (Julie) Mettler of Caldwell, and Myron Dale (Angela) Mettler of Dexter City; grandchildren Amanda (Lee) Orahood, Joshua (Stacey) Mettler, Austin Mettler, Travis Mettler, Jessica (Dustin) Brown, Myra (Michael) Guy II, Andrea (Cole) Carpenter, and Brittany (Austin) Mincks; great-grandchildren include Macey Mettler, Colter & Kenzlee Orahood; Carsyn & Cooper Brown; Mason & Mia Guy; Aleaha Carpenter; and Ayla, Bentley, and Aisley Mincks.; sister Marsha (Kevin) Greenhoe of Caldwell; brothers-in-law Roy (Dorothy) Metter of Asheville, OH, Jerry Mettler and Ronnie Mettler both of Circleville, OH. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends for visitation Monday, December 16, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Chandler Funeral Home, 609 West Street, Caldwell, OH 43724. A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Chandler Funeral Home Chapel, with Chris Wells officiating.
