Deaderick McKnight

Deaderick Mcknight

Deaderick McKnight, “D”, age 62, went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 14, 2024, peacefully at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Deaderick was born in Forrest City, Arkansas on April 30, 1962.

“D” was a man who loved his family fiercely. His wife, children, and grandchildren meant the world to him. He was one of a kind, genuine, strong willed, and believed in the power of prayer. He was always teaching his family hard life lessons – giving advice and talking with them or just playing games (most of the time winning) all he wanted was for his family to be together. He always spoke his mind; you may not have agreed at the time, but when the time was right, you received his message. The love he had for his wife Faye, was a once in a lifetime kind of love. Many people don’t get to experience, and they were lucky enough to cross paths 25 years ago and stayed strong until the end. He was very proud of all his children, grandchildren and helped make them who they are today. “D” has a unique and special nickname for each of his grandchildren and any young child that became a part of his inner circle to match each one of their personalities. Some may wonder why it was that certain nickname, but he knew exactly why. He had a very special bond with each and every one of them. He loved playing lottery, golfing, horseshoes, basketball, playing cards and board games with his children and grandchildren, he never allowed them to win and made them earn their bragging rights. He was such a great man to have known, had much wisdom, or just an ear to listen, whatever you needed at the time. He was a man of God and trusted in that to guide him home. He proudly served his country in the UNITED STATES MARINE CORPS. It was an honor to know him and have him in your life and he forever will be known as his family’s founder, friend, and rock.

Survived by his wife Faye; Daughters – Shalona (Josh), Tequila (Angie), Tori, Bayleigh, and Shanna; Sons – Michael (Pauline), Lashon, and Carl; Brothers – Michael (Jackee), Jesse, and Bobby; Sisters -Mary, and Ethel; Grandchildren – Joshua, Kilynn, Taylin, Amara, Bonnie, Jaxon, Ryan, Andreia, Michael, Carsten, Greysyn, Rosealie, and Luke.

Deaderick was welcomed home by Barbara Sherrills (Mother), Crystal McKnight (Daughter), Hezekiah McKnight (Brother), Henry McKnight (Brother), Haywood McKnight (Brother), and Yvonne Adams (Sister). Per Deaderick’s wishes, a cremation will take place, graveside service with family and close friends will be held at the City of Zanesville Woodlawn Cemetery on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude hospitals or Cancer center of America in Deaderick’s honor.
