Today New Year’s, Tomorrow Groundhog Day
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Each Winter the Muskingum County Community Foundation holds a major fundraising event in conjunction with Groundhog Day.
MCCF CEO Brian Wagner explained how the revenues collected during the event are redistributed throughout the community via the organization’s Spring Grant Competition.
“It’s always a fun evening. This year taking place on Friday, January 31, at the Zane State Campus Center. Things will get underway about 5 O’clock. Of course we have food that’s prepared by Chef Marco and his team. Wonderful drinks and beverages for people to enjoy and of course we’ll have our live and silent auctions,” Wagner said.
The event also recognizes community members, who have made an impact, with presentations of the Dick Johnson Civic Leadership Award and the Community Leadership Award.
“Of Course the auction items, a lot of fun with our live auction,” Wagner said. “Once again very pleased to say that Sheriff Matt Lutz will be conducting the auctions… the live auction. And all sorts of packages and opportunities will be available. One that I do want to highlight, there is going to be a package by former Ohio State and NBA star Lawrence Thunderbird. And that’s an opportunity for a local basketball program to bring him in and work with the team for a period of time and then also talk with him about some life lessons.”
Wagner said that the MCCF is always looking for auction items, whether they be tangible goods or valuable services to place in their auction and that individual tickets and corporate sponsorship seating is still available and can be purchased online.
