Senior Center Solution For Now?
The Senior Center at Sunrise is still closed…but there may be a temporary solution in the works. At Monday night’s Zanesville City Council meeting an ordinance co-sponsored by 5th ward Councilman David Tarbert and Mayor Jeff Tilton will call for the Senior Center to operate out of Secrest Auditorium at no cost. The ordinance has been declared an emergency. The deal will stay in place until center officials can find a new safe home. Senior Center Director Ann Combs says Secrest is really not a good location for the seniors because of the stairs and rest rooms. In the short term they used the Secrest Kitchen for their home delivered meal program, but that has now moved back to the Sunrise facility. Combs says she thinks the Sunrise Senior Center will be back open at the start of April after roof repairs are completed.
