MCCYF Self Defense Class
According to RAINN, the rape abuse and incest national network — another american is sexually assaulted every 107 seconds.
To prevent tragedies like this…The Muskingum County Community Youth Foundation hosted a self defense course at the Muskingum Recreation Center. Brad Seward taught the class geared towards high school students…He explains what students learned during the class.
“What we’re doing today is just a general self defense class for the Muskingum County Youth Foundation, we’re gonna teach them basic blocks, strikes, how to deal with any attack type situation and just kind of better prepare them for anything that might happen in the future.”
Students learned how to go on the offensive when being attacked. They also learned how to prepare themselves to be mindful of their surroundings and some techniques to aide them in case of an attack.
“The mind prepares everything for the future, there’s more in preventiveness for self-defense than there is in the actual defense situation. ”
Seward stresses that confidence is the real key to preventing an attack.
