Election Day getting closer
Election Day is just two weeks away, and several local issues will be decided.
There are four issues on this year’s ballot and a Republican primary race for Zanesville city law director. County wide, the Center for Seniors has a bond issue to provide funds for a new building.
In the Village of Philo, voters can decide on a levy for current expenses, in the Village of Dresden there is a natural gas aggregation issue and in Jackson Township there is an issue for cemetery operation costs.
Director of the Muskingum County Board of Elections, Chris Hamill said everyone should vote because these issues affect the local communities.
“You have the right to vote so therefore it’s up to you to come in and vote in our office or go to the polls and vote Election Day,” Hamill said. “It’s made available to you, so it’s easy to do just come in and vote.”
From now until May 5th voters can vote early at the board of elections, and Hamill said the board has extended hours until the day before the election.
“If you haven’t voted absentee yet and you want to, we will be open Saturday May 2 from 8:00 – 12:00 and Sunday May 3 from 1:00 – 5:00,” Hamill said. “And we will be open on Monday from 8:00 – 2:00 if anybody would still like to come into our office and vote absentee.”
If you still need to change your address you can do so at the board of elections through Election Day.
