John Staker

John J. Staker, 86 of Zanesville, died 11:00 PM, Thursday, January 9, 2025, at the Oaks at Northpointe in Zanesville.
He was born Thursday, January 20, 1938, in Zanesville, the son of Robert F. Staker and Mary Virginia (Fulmer) Staker and was a member of Saint Nicholas Catholic Church.

John was the manager for the Jai Lai Restaurant in Columbus, and B & B Industries as a contract driver for the United States Postal Service. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and enjoyed riding horse, especially barrel racing and poles.

John is survived by his daughter, Ashlee & Jeffrey Schmitz of the Netherlands; grandsons, Maximilian, Alexander, Felix and Axel Schmitz and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene “Gene” & Mary Lou Staker and James Staker.

Friends may call from 12 Noon to 12:45 PM, Wednesday January 15, 2025, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where Graveside Services will follow at 1:00 PM, in Mt.
