Final preparations for Carr Center Cake Auction
The annual Carr Center Cake Auction has grown this year.
Executive Director of the center, Kim Hosler, said there are more than 350 cakes and incentives in this year’s auction, and with just a few days to go, the number is still growing.
“We are over last year, so we’re excited about that,” Hosler said. “Right now we’re around 350 and that’s really good. The important thing to stress though about the cake auction is that it really is all a gift to the center. All of the funds that we raise through this event, as crazy and fun as it is, it really all goes back to programming for families in Zanesville.
This is the 29th year of the auction, and Hosler said they are trying new things. This year, the center partnered with four area banks to have donor boards to expand the way people can give.
“If someone wants to be a part of the auction, but they don’t want to be a part of the process of buying a cake and buying the incentives or supporting us through a donation of providing a cake or incentive, they can actually just call in during the event and just submit a donation to the Carr Center,” Hosler said.
A donation made to the boards will automatically be matched by one of the sponsoring banks of Community, Century, North Valley or People’s. If you can’t make it to the mall for the auction, you can catch it live on AM 1240 starting at 8:15 Thursday morning.
