Buckeye Lake Dredging on Hold

LICKING COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is looking to lease sites to deposit sediment from Buckeye Lake due to a lack of places to store the material. The current dredging work stoppage should last less than two weeks, until a new site for storing sediment is completed.

ZDA Annual Membership Drive

ZANESVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) – The Annual Membership Drive for the Zanesville Downtown Association is going on this week. Over $2,000 have already been raised this year, and manager of the association, Dana Matz says the ZDA hopes to get up to $3,500 by the end of the drive.

National Motorcycle Awareness Month

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – May is National Motorcycle Awareness Month. Trooper Weaver of the State Highway Patrol says it’s important that motorcycle riders be endorsed to ride through the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

Meth Lab Bust

PERRY COUNTY, OHIO (WHIZ) – Perry County Sheriff’s Deputies along with the Central Ohio Drug Enforcement Task Force located an active meth lab at 7411 Township Road 87 in Thornville this week. One male was arrested and is currently in the Southeast Ohio Regional jail in Nelsonville on felony drug trafficking and manufacturing charges.

Panera Bread to Meet With Zoning Appeals Board

ZANESVILLE, OHIO (WHIZ) – Panera Bread officials will be appearing before the board of zoning appeals this week. Planning and zoning administrator Pat Denbow says they are bringing three requests before the board including getting approval for a drive-thru, a variance on the amount of parking they need, and a variance for an off site sign.
