UPDATE: One Airlifted in Cannelville Road Accident

A car slammed into a tree on Cannelville Road near Spring Road Tuesday afternoon.

The call for the crash came at approximately 2:43PM. Both lanes were closed for approximately 30 minutes and was opened back up to traffic shortly before 4PM. We spoke with Trooper T.E. Davis of the Ohio State Highway Patrol who explained what happened as the vehicle traveled southbound.

"It appears that this red Oldsmobile failed to negotiate a curve, going off the right side of the roadway and striking two trees."

Davis said they are still investigating if speed was a factor in the accident. The vehicle was occupied by four juveniles. Three juveniles suffered minor injuries and were transported to Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital by Community Ambulance. Another was airlifted by MedFlight to Nationwide Children’s and suffered trauma.

Davis said firefighters stated the individual was talking, but there is no word yet on their condition. No citations have been issued in the accident. The driver did have insurance. Harrison Township Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene. Davis says the accident remains under investigation.
