Great American Ballpark Experience

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Attending a major league sporting event is more than just watching professional athletes perform at the top level in a lavish stadium.

For many fans, it’s a trip to a major city and experiencing the crowds, the culture, the team’s heritage and taking part in traditions that generations of fans have undertaken. Cincinnati Reds Senior Vice President and General Manager Brad Meador talked about how the organization strives to make the fans happy.

“Well, they’ve done a great job since they’ve built the ballpark, from then until now, of building up the banks in-between Great American Ballpark and where the Bengals play,” Meador said. “You know there’s so much to do. You know there’s so many restaurants and stuff that’s been added there. Living places, condos and apartments and you know there’s a couple of museums down there there’s a children’s museum. And so it is a really cool experience you can make a day or weekend out of it.”

Municipalities on both sides of the river have put much effort into making their riverfronts a thriving and very popular destination for sports fans and tourists, year-round.

“Yeah, we have the hall of fame right there… If you’ve never done that, it’s worth it. It’s incredible,” Meador said. “The history of the Reds and all the players and then of course the players who’ve been inducted into the Reds Hall of Fame. It’s a really cool experience and then on top of the hall of fame there, right next to it is the team shop, which you can get jerseys and all your different merchandise.”

Meador also explained how the organization continues to make improvements inside the stadium that lend to the game becoming yet another of the many experiences that can be found at Great American Ballpark.
