Muskingum University Making an ‘Impact’

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Muskingum University’s Impact Center networks students and faculty with employers to better communicate and share resources.

Impact Center Executive Director Molly Dunn talked about today’s job fair and how it benefits the students, employers and the university.

“We strive to build relationships with our regional employers and beyond,” Dunn said. “And that role through the Impact Center is to serve our students, most importantly. And we do that through a variety of ways, through our local chambers of commerce, through membership organizations and as I mentioned, we do that on a regional level but a state level as well. We have many alumni across the nation, who are also actively engaged with our students and with the Impact Center.”

The university benefits through the cooperation with employers, the employers benefit through communication with the university and the students benefit through job and internship opportunities. Muskingum University Assistant Professor Samantha Bennett explained how the Impact Fair helps students gain knowledge and experience through networking.

“So this event was hosted by the Impact Center,” Bennett said. “We are reaching students across disciplines, including criminal justice, healthcare, sociology, business, nursing, I mean the list really goes on. So if students are interested in one certain area, they can broaden their horizons to get a gist of what all of the area has to offer. Not just Muskingum County but also Guernsey County and beyond.”

Employers from numerous career fields across the state attended the event to share their job specifications and to search for prospective employees and interns.
