Mixon Sentenced in Baby Death

Muskingum County- Common Pleas Judge Kelly Cottrill handed down a 10-year sentence to 40-year-old Anthony Mixon.
The Muskingum County Prosecutor’s Office said Mixon pleaded guilty to felony child endangering and involuntary manslaughter. Mixon also pleaded guilty to charges that he bit a deputy officer while he was in jail on a suicide watch.
Officials said the charges stem from an August 2024 incident where law enforcement responded to an emergency call about a dead baby.
The baby’s grandmother told police, Mixon, a known Fentanyl user was in the home earlier in the evening, but she was unaware when he left. The grandmother watched the child until the child went to sleep sometime after 10pm
Toxicology reports from the autopsy showed the baby had Fentanyl and Cocaine in his bloodstream which resulted in death by acute and toxic drug overdose.
