Zanesville’s Newest Lottery Winner Shares Plans

Zanesville has a new millionaire this week and we had the chance to meet her!

44 year old Juanita Corder recently won on a $20 Lucky Loot instant lottery scratch off from Mother Tucker’s Gas Station on Sharon Avenue. They are worth $2,000,000. Corder won a prize of $100,000 a year for 20 years. She chose the cash prize option of $1,000,000. After mandatory state and federal taxes totaling 29%, Corder will have $710,000. We had the chance to speak with her and she shared what she plans to do with the money.

“Buy myself a home, pay off some bills and I want to live a normal life just more comfortable, less stress.”

Corder said she couldn’t believe it when she initially won, and that it didn’t sink in until the Monday after returning from the Lottery Commission. Corder says the $20 tickets are all she and her husband play and that the most they have won in years past was $5,000. Corder has been working at Subway for 5 years now and said she has no intentions of quitting her job. She explained.

“Because in the past we had won some money and I took a year off and it was unproductive for me,” Corder said, “so I just want to continue working and live a normal life. I don’t want to–I don’t know. The thought of being a millionaire doesn’t really appeal to me. I just want to have a normal life. Go to work every day and do the same things I’ve always done.”

Corder gave some advice with future lottery winners. She said if you ever win any money to just stay home and be you, to live life and be happy.
