Marilyn Louise Nicol Englehart died Monday, February 10, 2025, at 11:30 A.M. surrounded by her family. She was born on Wednesday, July 1, 1936, in Zanesville, Ohio; the daughter of Robert F. Nicol and Margaret D. Steil Nicol.
Marilyn married her high-school sweetheart, Edward “Ned” F. Englehart in 1955. Marilyn and Ned lived and raised their family in Zanesville where they were life-long members of the Catholic Church community.
Marilyn was passionate about her family and her extended family. From her creative abilities like sewing, flowers/flower arranging, cooking, upholstery work and celebrating birthdays, anniversaries and any other special occasion, Marilyn was always at the center of the planning and delivery. She loved a good party! Throughout the years she danced with the Dancing Diva’s and square danced at the senior center. Whenever the opportunity arose, Marilyn loved to play cards.
She worked alongside her mother, father and sisters at Nicol’s Restaurant for over 50 years where she met many wonderful people. Her work ethic was stellar which she instilled in each of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by 4 children, Lynn (Paul) Dunn, Kim (Mark) Moyer, Mark (Jodie) Englehart, & Chad Englehart. Grandchildren: Lynsey (Shawn) Cable, Cody Dunn & (Keri Johnson), Devon (Allison) Dunn, Ryan Moyer & (Megan Mortimer), Ashley Moyer (Eric Ling), Olivia (Adam) Henderhan, twelve great-grandchildren and brother-in-law, Mike Sergio.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ned Englehart; sisters, Phyllis “Cork” Gray, and brother-in-law Tom Gray, Nancy Davis and brother-in-law, Jerry Davis, and Sally Sergio.
Visitation will be 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. Thursday, February 13, 2025 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Friday February 14, 2025 at the St. Nicholas Catholic Church with Father Dave Young as celebrant. Burial will conclude at Mt. Olive Cemetery.
