St. Thomas Fest Kicks Off this Weekend
Saint Thomas Aquinas Church is gearing up to kick off its annual festival downtown this weekend.
Popular at the festival this year will be new live entertainment, an obstacle course, and new menu items, including pulled pork and baked potatoes….and of course no festival would be complete without a beer garden. Committee member, Jenifer Dittmar, said there’s a little something for everyone.
“Not only entertainment, we also have lots of other stuff going on; free admission, and when you come in we have a gym full of children’s activities, there’s bean bag tosses, and unlock the box games, all kinds of stuff from all age groups,” Dittmar said. “On Friday, we’re actually closing the street down and we’ll be having a giant warrior obstacle course, it’s an inflatable, you’ll see it from all over.”
Dittmar said a lot of planning goes into the festival, and that it wouldn’t be possible without all of the help and hard work from dedicated folks in the parish community.
“It also couldn’t be done without the support of our volunteers, it takes hundreds people to do this festival,” she said. “This is an event that has been an annual event for years and years, I mean I remember coming here when I was a little kid. Everyone looks forward to it every year, it’s some place you can bring your entire family and there’s something for everyone. ”
All proceeds from the festival benefit area Catholic schools. The festival kicks off at St. Thomas on Thursday and runs thru Saturday.
