Anna Korte
Anna Marie (Kuklica) Korte, 97, of Byesville, passed away Saturday (February 15, 2025) at AlterCare of Cambridge.
She was born June 13, 1927 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Karol Kuklica and Anna (Medvec) Kuklica. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Church and then became a member of the St. Benedict/Christ Our Light Parish.
Ann graduated from Byesville High School. She then worked at Korte’s Park, where she met her husband, Edgile Frank Korte – who entered the US Navy where he served in the Sea Bees in the South Pacific during World War II. When he returned, Ann and Edgile were married October 25, 1947.
Ann worked at Ekco in Byesville until she and Edgile took over Korte’s Bar and Trailer Park. Ann was an amazing cook who loved to cook for her family and others. She was famous for her Korte’s chicken, giblet dressing, nut rolls, pumpkin pie, and so many more.
She enjoyed bowling and was an avid golfer, earning the title of Cambridge Country Club Champion for golf in 1980.
Ann loved her family, loved her friends, and her zest for living brought that special sparkle to every event.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edgile F. Korte; her brothers, Carl, Joe, and Mike; and two sisters, Mary Ruggiero and Margaret Richcreek – affectionately known as the “Golden Girls”.
Ann leaves behind a daughter, Carol (& John) Bennett of Cambridge; a grandson, Sean (& Melissa) Webb of Pekin IL; a granddaughter, Shaylyn Bennett of Cambridge; three great-grandchildren, Parker, Conner, and Olivia Webb; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday (February 19, 2025) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday (February 20, 2025) at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Light Parish (St. Benedict Catholic Church), Cambridge, with Father Robert Borer officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville.
