Tri-Valley Grad Receives College Scholarship
Tri-Valley graduate, Rebecca Wheeler, received this year’s Fred and Herman Dreier scholarship.
She was awarded the scholarship of $10,000 a year for four years, due to her impressive academic record. Wheeler excelled in high school with a 4.0 GPA and an ACT score of 35. While at Tri-Valley, she also participated in a variety of extra-curricular activities.
“It’s awesome, I’m so excited to not really have to worry as much about taking out loans, it’s just an amazing feeling,” Wheeler said. “This year I don’t have to take out any loans and it’s just exciting to know I can go to college and enjoy myself, keep my grades up and not have to worry as much about everything.”
Wheeler will study pre-medicine at Ohio State and has plans to become an anesthesiologist. She said the award was unexpected, but is grateful for the opportunity.
“My parents and friends have been really excited for me, we weren’t expecting it at all, so it was a nice surprise,” she said.
The Fred and Herman Dreier Foundation has been providing scholarships for Muskingum County high school students since 2005.
